Lakeland recommends the use of appropriate security, antivirus and other protective software. While there is every effort to ensure that all information provided on the Lakeland website does not contain computer viruses, this does not warrant that the Lakeland website is free of errors or viruses and is not liable for any damage you may suffer as a result of such destructive features.

Unprotected email communications are not confidential and could be lost, intercepted or altered. To protect yourself, do not send sensitive information such as passwords, banking information, credit card number, or personal information to Lakeland via email. Lakeland is not liable for damages in connection to an email you sent to us or an email that Lakeland has sent to you.

Lakeland respects the privacy of its online visitors and does not sell or rent any information obtained from its website to any other organization or third party.

Information we collect

 web traffic analysis tool is used by Lakeland to collect anonymous information from visits to our website. The data we obtain helps us understand traffic patterns and types of technology our visitors use. Monthly statistics generated from this data are used to continually improve the Lakeland online experience. Information collected cannot be associated with any specific individual, and no attempt is made to identify particular users browsing the site.

This privacy statement applies only to websites maintained by Lakeland, and is subject to change without any notice.

As a post-secondary educational institution in Alberta, Lakeland College is governed by the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Personal information you provide to the College through this website is protected under FOIP. At the point of collection you will be informed that your personal information is being collected, the purpose for which it is being collected and that you have certain rights under FOIP in regard to that information.

Lakeland College is committed to the privacy of our students, staff, and visitors. Photo Consent

When you enter Lakeland College property you enter public space where photography, audio and video recordings may take place.

By entering Lakeland College you acknowledge that photography, audio and video recording may occur in public space, such as outside, the cafeteria, and commons.

By entering the event premises, you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording, interview(s) and its/their release, publication, exhibition or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by Lakeland College and its affiliates and representatives.Images, photos and/or videos may be used to promote similar Lakeland College events in the future, highlight the event and exhibit the capabilities of Lakeland College.

You release the Board of Governors of Lakeland College, its employees, representatives and each and all persons involved from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing or publication and use of interviews, photographs, computer images, video and/or sound recordings.

By entering the event premises, you waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use, exhibition, streaming, web casting, televising or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such use, exhibiting, broadcasting, web casting or other publication irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged.

You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video or audio recording taken by Lakeland College or the person or entity designated to do so by Lakeland College.

Access Requests

There are 2 types of access requests: informal and formal.

The majority of requests for access to information or correction to personal information under the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act can be handled informally by making a direct request to the department responsible for the information.

Formal requests for information can be directed to the attention of the FOIP Coordinator.

Formal requests include:

All formal requests should be submitted directly to the FOIP coordinator. The normal processing time for a request is a 30-day period. This period doesn't begin until the application and any associated fees have been received by the college's risk and compliance office.
